Commercial Diving

Our In-Water Capabilities

Our commercial diving division (Advanced Underwater Technologies) has been safely  completing underwater vidography, preventive maintenance inspections and commercial construction projects for the City of Calgary, Transalta Utilities and Canlin Energy since the spring of 2010.

We have been involved in film projects completed by independent film directors, the Discovery Channel, as well as a number of commercial advertising agencies. Our commitment to the wellbeing of our Employees, our Customers and the Communities in which we work is evident by our safety record, which remains unrivalled in the industry during the past 13 years.

Backed by many years of diverse inspection knowledge, and access to very specialized equipment, our commercial dive experts conduct detailed inspections to assist in determining the structural integrity of your asset. A combination of this experience and tools come together to provide you with professional and accurate inspection reports, stills and video evidence which is invaluable to assist in determining if maintenance or repairs are required.

There is no substitute for manned inspections when it comes to in-water Inspection of your assets. Our divers are certified to CSA Z275.4 Competency Standard for diving, hyperbaric chamber, and remotely operated vehicle operations, and we are committed to compliance with CSA 275.2 Occupational Safety Code for Diving Operations. Tactile inspections are supported by the use of equipment including non-destructive examination tools, LED lighting and HD video cameras to capture the most comprehensive images.

Our Inspection operations are conducted by fully qualified operators using specialized equipment including remotely operated vehicles (ROV's), side-scan sonar and as well as aerial drones to assist in the completion of a number of near-shore projects since early 2021.

Project Inspection results and accompanying data are compiled by the inspection team led by our experienced Project Managers. Inspection reports will include the inspection methodology used, and all as-found results and data collected during the inspections. These details are critical to assist clients in condition assessment and making sound management decisions.

Our commercial dive team maintains a strict adherence to Health and Safety protocols and is proud to maintain a thirteen-plus year record of zero serious injuries.

Advanced Underwater Technologies is working towards registration with the Divers Certification Board of Canada (DCBC), as well as accreditation to ISO 45001:2018, International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) Standards, and various Class Service Supplier requirements. With our inception in 2010, we implemented a Small Employer Certificate of Recognition (SECOR) Program, and maintain Workers Compensation Accounts with Alberta WCB, WorkSafe BC, as well as the Province of Saskatchewan.
